What color is your counter top? It looks like a light green to me so I attached the last picture to show how light green & turquoise look together. Also if its light, it won't be any trouble to cover up later when you paint again. It would give it color, but you don't want too much with the dark cabinets. My thought would be a really soft turquoise. You could also watch for mistints that the store marks down to see if they might have a nice color or one you can re-tint to suit you. Wait for there to be a paint sale or rebate (Lowe's does that a lot). I know you don't want to put a lot of money in it since you are going to remodel the whole thing anyway, but a bucket of paint is pretty inexpensive. If you aren't going to be able to remodel it within a year, then pull off the wallpaper yourself & paint the walls. I'm still thinking about making your kitchen happier. You just can't walk up to someone & say "hey, will you be my friend?" Of course they would think you were an idiot & run away! Making friends as an adult is hard. Most people I know are parents of my kids friends that they play ball with. I love it but if it wasn't for my social butterfly husband & my outgoing kids I wouldn't know anyone. I've lived in a small town for the last 14 years. Runs with poodles: awesome pic of your dogs on the beach! dreacorator: I understand the antisocial, what I have to meet people? mentality. Our ice was always at a 45° angle sloping away from the door opening, but now fills nicely. For the first time, our machine fills up quickly and relatively quietly.

I haven’t tried it, but I’ll bet a bit of floor dampening foam (the stuff they sell for floating hardwood floor systems) under the plexiglass will work even better. Surprisingly, that greatly reduced the sound we hear from both the pump (which sounded like a B-29 readying for takeoff) and the ice drop (which sounded like we live over a bowling alley). I decided to put a 1/8” sheet of plexiglass under the machine so we could slip it out more easily. Since you have to pull out the machine to service the finicky pressure valve (great engineering, Scotsman! Almost as good as putting cube size and bin controls in front of the refrigeration fins that need to be constantly cleaned if you have pets). One thing I haven’t seen mentioned is to make absolutely sure your machine is “dead level” both front to back and side to side.
